In the first round higher seeded Kai Kiernan played Thomas Gray in a very close encounter with Kiernan just coming out on top. The stand out match in this round was between Alejandro Ramjrec and Isaac Quayle, with the latter just taking the win.
The next round of matches saw a brilliant match between Oliver Williams and Christian Webster, with some superb squash on show. Williams experience showed towards the end of the game resulting in the win and progressing to the next round. Top seeds such as Harvey Douglas, Ben Leith and Max Birchall all progressed to the semi finals beating Kai Kiernan, Isaac Quayle and Calum Larkin respectively. There was also a match between two tournament debutants in this round, Harrison Callow and Fletcher Kneen, who battled it out with Callow just coming out on top.
Cai Lewis then took on Alejandro Ramjrec to play for ninth postition, with Alejandro playing brilliant squash to take the win.
In the semi finals Harvey Douglas took on an in-form Oliver Williams who played some sublime drop shots to take the match and book his place in the final. The other semi final was between Ben Leith and Max Birchall. Birchall’s experience told in the end and he was too strong for his younger opponent.
The final was contested between Max Birchall and Oliver Williams, with Williams chasing everything down and forcing Birchall into mistakes. Williams kept this up and managed to take a very close encounter and become Island Boys Junior Champion 2018.
